The Model Room is a small family owned business established in 2017 by owners Alan and Claire Sannazzaro.
Alan has a passion for creating a hobby shop with unique models on the shelves, not otherwise seen in Auckland; we have kits from international suppliers arriving regularly to make sure our range stays fresh and vibrant. We have good relationships with our on and off shore suppliers which allows us to make sure we remain market competitive with range and price. We encourage our customers to enquire about availability of subjects, as we can often find those hard to track down models that other shops may not be able to supply.
One of the services we provide is commission building for plastic models, which has proven very popular for people wanting a special one off, custom built model; a high quality model for a collection or a unique gift for someone special. Subjects like aircraft, cars, ships and even the occasional motorbike have proven popular, Alan also has a lot of experience building dioramas to help set the scene for the model. Previously, Alan has been a commercial pilot, which has given him exposure to real aircraft, and subsequently an edge with his experiences for finishing models to a realistic standard.
With over 20 years experience in the industry, and using the products we sell on a daily basis, our staff are able to offer advice on our products, so you can get the most out of using them.
We have a small friendly team with Alan at the shop 6 days per week, and Scott in over the weekend to help out and answer your questions.
